Choosing sustainability over fast moving products can help you save over 40% money every year
If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that when uncertainty takes over, there is very little left to keep us afloat. Another thing that I have learned from the pandemic is that we have one life and only one planet. (Elon Musk would argue, I know!) but anywho.
It’s no wonder that the bags and pouches that were made by our granny’s lasted a lifetime
We are all currently living in times when there is uncertainty about everything — life, career, money, and the list continues. And we have all realized that most things that we deemed necessary are more or less, to put it bluntly, unnecessary.
During one of my recent discussion with a friend, she told me how she always avoided buying organic products. When I asked her why? She said, ”oh they are always so expensive!” And that got me thinking, are organic products really expensive? The answer is no.
I went back to her on this discussion and explained to her the difference between handmade and machine-made products. Though machine-made products look cheaper, the quality is not always as good as that of handmade products. Because think about it, they are essentially mass-produced to satisfy the needs of a larger audience. However, handmade products are all made with precision and an amount of care, that a machine can hardly achieve.
I know, to this you would say, this is not new. However, the money-saving bit comes in when you consider the longevity of a product that is affected by this precision and the care taken while making the product.
Like, imagine the bags we buy online. All are designated to last a stipulated amount of time. And when it’s time, they start to lose tatters. However, handmade products if used properly are made to last for as long as possible. It is not a surprise that the old bags and pouches that our grannies made lasted an eternity.
So overall when you chose sustainable products, you begin saving on repeat buying. You show love and care towards the artisans who are skilled at doing this and depend their livelihood on it.
